These Terms govern use of https://youngandseen.co.za and related services operated by YOUNG AND SEEN (PTY) LTD, registration number 2026/761280/07, trading as Young & Seen.
1. About Young & Seen
Young & Seen is a South African youth publication and media platform showcasing young people aged 0 to 18 through photography, writing, poetry, art, sport, performance, creativity, ideas, projects, achievements, passions and stories.
Young & Seen is editorially curated. It is not a competition and no payment guarantees editorial selection.

3. Acceptance
By using the website, creating an account, submitting content, purchasing a product or using a service, you agree to these Terms and any additional terms that apply to that activity.
If you do not agree, do not use the relevant service.
4. Minors
Young & Seen serves people aged 0 to 18.
A person under 18 may browse public content, but any submission containing that person’s personal information, image or creative work must have prior consent from a parent or legally competent guardian before Young & Seen accepts it for publication consideration.
An 18-year-old may submit and contract on their own behalf, subject to applicable law.
5. Editorial discretion
Young & Seen may:
- accept or decline submissions,
- decide whether, when and where selected material appears,
- edit layout, crop images and make non-substantive formatting changes,
- choose magazine covers and feature prominence,
- withdraw material where legally or ethically necessary.
Young & Seen will not materially rewrite a young creator’s original written work without permission.
Submission does not create a right to publication.
6. Free editorial submissions and paid services
Editorial submission is free.
Paid advertising, sponsored features, paid social-media features or promotional services are separate commercial products and will be identified as paid or sponsored where appropriate.
Payment does not buy editorial selection or a magazine cover.
7. User conduct
You may not:
- submit material you do not have the right to submit,
- impersonate another person,
- upload unlawful, abusive, exploitative, hateful, sexualised or harmful material involving a child,
- upload malicious code,
- attempt unauthorised access,
- scrape or misuse personal information,
- use Young & Seen content in a misleading or unlawful way.
8. Intellectual property
The Young & Seen name, logo, layout, original editorial content and branding are owned by or licensed to YOUNG AND SEEN (PTY) LTD.
Creators and photographers generally retain copyright in their own original work unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
Submitting selected work grants Young & Seen only the licence described in the applicable Submission Terms and Publication Release.
9. Third-party links and services
The website may use third-party services for payments, delivery, analytics, forms, media hosting and social sharing.
Young & Seen is not responsible for third-party websites, but will take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and to process personal information lawfully.
10. E-commerce
Product descriptions, prices, taxes, delivery charges and available payment methods will be displayed before checkout.
An order is accepted only when payment is confirmed and Young & Seen sends an order confirmation or otherwise confirms acceptance.
Young & Seen may cancel and refund an order where:
- a pricing or technical error occurred,
- stock or print availability changed,
- fraud is suspected,
- fulfilment is impossible.
11. Availability and website errors
Young & Seen aims to keep information accurate and the website available, but does not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every page will always be error free.
Obvious typographical or technical errors may be corrected.
12. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
To the extent permitted by law, Young & Seen is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising solely from ordinary website use, third-party outages, or events outside its reasonable control.
13. Changes
Young & Seen may update these Terms where reasonably necessary. Material changes will be published with an updated effective date.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
15. Complaints
Complaints may be sent to legal@youngandseen.co.za. Consumer complaints may also be referred to an appropriate South African consumer protection body where applicable.
